Tip for Tuesday!

Signature Plates elevate the guest book to an art form by having guests write on plates to be later mounted on your wall. Choose white dishes for the well-wishes, which show up nicely when inscribed with metallic paint pens. After the event, arrange the signed plates with patterned ones in a random grouping for a sophisticated feel.

Tip for Tuesday!

The Wedding Fingerprint Tree is a unique alternative to the wedding guest book, where the leaves of the tree are made from the fingerprints of your guests. What usually happens with a regular guestbook is that it gets put ...away in a draw or up in the attic and gets looked at every 15 years or so when you get around to a tidy up,

But as a stylish fingerprint tree, personalized & framed to suit the decor of your home it can be a keepsake you, your friends & your family can admire every day.

Bridal Testimonial

Testimonial

Above is another short video of our store! Thank you to our newly married bride Jacquelyn Hodgson. She came in for a fitting and was open to having us tape her for this You Tube video. She was a total natural in front of the camera and had some kind words to say! Enjoy:)

Tip for Tuesday!

A cocktail is refreshing during the reception on a hot summer day, but you know what's even more refreshing? When that cocktail comes in the form of a popsicle. Lucky for you, these adult pops come in all types of flavors ...and strengths. From a mild wine fudgesicle to a more intense cucumber margarita popsicle, there's a boozy pop perfect for every guest. If you want to make them kid-friendly, just add juice in place of booze. Try this summertime twist on your refreshments!

Do you want to incorporate the wedding dress from a special woman in your life into your own big day? Maybe having pieces of your mother's or grandmother's wedding gown somehow floating around your ceremony, but you just don't know how? Try having their gown redesigned into your own! Having parts reconstructed and sewn into your flower girl's dress or a pair of gloves for you to wear down the isle would be the perfect way to keep those precious memories with you and ensure they aren't forgotten during your own enchanted journey!

You will have planned so many aspects of your wedding day down to the finest detail, but weather is something not even the most organized of brides can determine or plan for. You can only hope for the best weather on your wedding day, but r...ain should never spoil your day, after all of the planning and the time and money you have spent. So here are some ideas to ensure you are prepared if the weather is less than ideal come your big day.

Rainy wedding day tip 1: Have a plan B

First and foremost your wedding should always have a Plan B, no matter what the hiccup is. Many brides and grooms dream of an outdoor wedding, but they should always consider an indoor or sheltered alternative to avoid disappoint should the worst come to the worst. You should also think about transport: perhaps the short walk to the venue from the ceremony will not seem so short in bad weather conditions. Your wedding day plans may include a drinks reception on a terrace overlooking beautiful gardens, but don’t forget to have an indoor plan with beautiful décor as a back-up.

Rainy wedding day tip 2: Bridal beauty

Now let’s be vain for a moment. Rain is terrible for hair – even the most coiffed, hair-sprayed of manes. Talk to your hairdresser about making your style as secure as possible for your wedding day and ask them to show your mom or bridesmaid how to recover it if it starts to look a little windswept of frizzy. This may involve emergency supplies of hairspray, and hair straighteners close to hand. Similarly, don’t risk ruining your wedding shoes on the way to the ceremony to find yourself conscious of them later in the day, with their mud stains and wet blotches. Consider taking a pair of wellington boots which can add a really fun look to your photos if the heavens open; or perhaps buy a second pair of shoes that you can wear outside and change into later in the day. Umbrellas are a very easy contingency to have in place and there are some really pretty or unusual designs around to choose from, which could also double up as a parasol if the sun comes out.

Rainy wedding day tip 3: Think about your guests

It’s not only yourself, your wedding dress and your groom (in that order!) that you have to worry about if the weather is wet on your wedding day. Think about your guests and how they’ll be kept warm and dry too. Perhaps provide the ushers with a supply of umbrellas to hand out to soggy guests and also ensure that they greet guests at the car where possible so they don’t get drenched on the way in to the ceremony or reception. Supplying ponchos for your guests may be taking it a tad too far, so maybe temporary walkways or gazebos are the way forward instead.

Rainy wedding day tip 4: Plan ahead

It is always worth planning ahead to ensure that the weather won’t spoil your wedding day. Looking at the weather forecast might seem obvious, but to a busy bride just before her big day, that will be the last thing on her mind. Instead, it will be spray tans and last-minute dress fittings! Perhaps this should be left to the groom or an usher, but looking ahead at the weather forecast will help you prepare for even the wettest of weathers. It is better to be safe than sorry, especially when your wedding dress and make-up are at stake!

Rainy wedding day tip 5: Keep things in perspective

The very best advice is to ensure that you keep things in perspective and enjoy the day as a whole. Whether you are met with showers and storms or glorious sunshine on your wedding day, your day will be perfect no matter what, so long as you’re in the right mindset. It’s also worth knowing that a rainy wedding day is actually considered lucky in some cultures. Similarly, every time it rains after your big day, it will be a nice reminder of the happiest day of your life – especially if there’s a rainbow!

What NOT to Wear to A Wedding!

You might wear a uniform or follow an office dress code Monday through Friday, and on the weekend, you like to have a little fun with fashion. Your friend's wedding isn't the place to test drive your new romp...er or rock those $200 jeans you just splurged on. But you already knew that, right? There are a few gray areas when it comes to appropriate wedding guest attire. Maybe that cocktail dress has a questionable hemline, or it might be the same color the bridal party is wearing. Just follow these 6 things you should never wear to a wedding, and you'll keep receiving those invitations!

1. Something Skimpy - Nothing screams "look at me" like a skimpy outfit. There's nothing wrong with showing off a little leg or décolleté every once in a while, but there's a time and place for such things, and weddings aren't one of them.
No, you're not exactly showing up the bride, but showing off your assets is a surefire way to take away from her big day, so don't do it.

2. A Tux - There's only one guy in a penguin suit here today, and it's not you (unless, of course, the ceremony is a black-tie affair, in which case you, the groom, and every other male in attendance is bowtied out). However, just as it's in bad taste to upstage the bride, you shouldn't go out of your way to one-up the groom. Although it's doubtful he'll run into a closet and weep or complain about you to all his friends if you show up looking better than he does, it's just not polite. Yes, we know you can't do anything to tone down your innate good looks, but the least you can do is dress them down in a sport coat and leave the super-suit to the man saying "I do."

3. Bellbottoms or Other Dated Attire - Bellbottoms may work for a stylish night out on the town. But try sporting these wide-legged pants at your college roommate's wedding, and you might as well shake, shake, shake your booty back to your place for a change of clothes. Disco isn't cool when people say "I do." That's not to say that you can't invoke other styles and eras with your wedding guest garb. A 1960s pencil skirt will allow you to turn heads without causing a distraction, and a dress with an empire waist and cap sleeves will invoke the 1940s without making you look like a has-been.

4. A Prom Dress - Prom is like a pre-wedding for teenage girls. There's food, drink, dancing and after-parties where … well, we won't go there. Also like weddings, it's not out of the ordinary for a well-to-do young lady to drop $1,000 or more on a dress she'll wear only once -- many of which look suspiciously nuptial-ready. So, if you still have your prom dress and it's not out of style or too juvenile, slipping it on again for a formal affair might be awfully tempting, even if you're a decade or more out of high school. But you have to be careful, as there's a fine line between donning a vibrantly colored formal evening gown and a white, champagne or blush dress that'll make you look too much like a bride.

5. A Pantsuit - You're going to a wedding, not a meeting at the office! Drop the business persona and show your style in a skirt, dress or any kind of clothing that would look out of place with a coffee stain. This is a celebration of two people choosing to unite their lives together forever, so the least you can do is find something that isn't overly stuffy and businessy to wear. We're not just talking about your standard black or charcoal suit. This rule also applies to pretty pastel skirt-jacket combos. They might work for a dinner event, but they just set the wrong tone for weddings.

6. Anything Loud or Garish - People are there to look at the bride, not your obnoxious hat/dress/purse/shoes/eye shadow. Donning loud or garish apparel and accessories is a surprisingly common method of wedding-crashing women use to upstage the bride. Your outlandish choices might not be directly comparable to the bride's traditional white garb, but everyone -- including the new Mrs. -- will likely take them as a sign of extremely poor taste or a desperate call for attention.

Follow these rules just to make sure you do not

Do you love getting lost in Hobby Lobby for hours on end while picking out crafting supplies? Check out these fun DIY wedding ideas! Beautiful and one of a kind!

Pinwheels - Using strips of colorful craft paper, toothpicks and a glue gun, ...you can create cupcake pinwheel toppers. For a vintage twist, personalize your cupcake toppers with antique buttons — maybe a few from your mother's wedding dress.

Chair Garland - We’ve been seeing a lot of ceremony aisle markers popping up all over pinterest and weddings blogs. Any vine or flowering branch would also look beautiful.

Watercolor Escort Cards - Tear paper into 3 inch strips. Using the strips of paper, tear them into 3.5 inch pieces. Then, mix a palette of colors (for example, yellow, orange, pink). Create washes on the pieces of torn paper using the range of colors from the palette Let Cards dry for 24 hours before writing on them, this ensures that they are completely dry so the ink will not bleed.

Personalized Bridesmaids Hangers - How sweet would these be to give each of your bridesmaids a personalized bridesmaid hanger? And then to see all their dresses hanging in a line, with no confusion over whose is whose. You could write their names yourself or stamp them or hire a calligrapher to do it.

Flower Crown - A flower crown/halo/wreath/whatever-you-want-to-call-it can be the perfect finishing touch to your bridal look. We particularly love it over a long drop veil. They can be so beautiful and the best part is that they’re really not that hard to make! You can go a lot of different directions with a flower crown; simple and delicate.

Calligraphy Rock Place Card Holders - Rustic and chic! You can simply write guests' names on these stones with a paint pen. Everyone will love your use of nature and it won't cost you a penny if they decide to take it home!
