Instagram your wedding

Your wedding day is going to be the most special holiday of the year- are we right? Of course, it is going to be kind of tricky to keep track of all the pictures you're in. Make your big day the most photogenic thing that ...has hit social media! Ask your guests to hashtag a specific saying on any photos they upload to social media. That way you can browse through them later and relive the night through your guests' eyes!

You're engaged? Now what....

You're engaged! Now what?! 5 things you need to do after you get the ring!

1) Call Your Relatives (Even the Ones You Never Really Talk to)- Your first task? Sharing the exciting news with the world. And how easy would it be to do so in 140... characters or fewer or with a quick status update? No matter how tempting, it’s an engagement no-no to not pick up the phone and call your family members and friends. All of them. No one likes to be the last to know—and getting the news via mass e-mail, Twitter update or Facebook is especially rotten.

2) Get Your Ring Sized- Your stunning sparkler is perfect in every way, except for the wiggle room (or maybe it’s a little tight and turning your fingertip a not-so-Tiffany-blue). Get it resized ASAP—after all, you’ll be showing it to everyone and the last thing you want is to lose the thing an hour after you get it. The process can take just a few hours or, at most, a few days.

3) Create A Wedding Blog- Now that you’ve told everyone the good news (on the phone, missy—see step No. 1), set up a wedding site or blog to keep everyone apprised of your nuptial news. Post photos, write your “how we met” story, have a guestbook—make it as personal and interactive as you want. Get the bare bones up first; later on, you can get fancy with wedding details, hotel advice, maps, daily thoughts and whatever other wedding whimsies you want to share. Send it around to those who ask, but be prepared for the fact that your mom and your BFF may be the only ones who want to read it.

4) Think About Whether You Want a Wedding Coordinator or Want to Go It Alone- Review the elements of your wedding that’ll take a little planning—negotiating with bakers and caterers for the best prices, finding the ideal venue, organizing party favors—and figure out if those are tasks you want to tackle alone or if you’d rather hire a wedding planner (stress reduction and a little time-saving sounds nice, right?). Keep in mind that a wedding coordinator will cost extra money, so make sure the option fits into your budget before you give it serious consideration.

5) Start A Wedding Savings Account- Remember that even a simple, small wedding costs money (and sometimes a lot more money than you would ever imagine). A wedding savings account is an easy way to keep cash accumulating for the big day, so you don’t have to rely on plastic to bear the brunt later on. Open a basic savings account at any bank—or look online for higher-interest accounts at sites like ally.com and etrade.com—then deposit a set amount every paycheck that’ll go toward wedding-related expenses only.

SHOES!

Without a doubt, the bride’s wedding dress is the star of the show. Some brides will search for months, even years, for ‘the one’. But what about the wedding shoes? A bride can’t make like Cinderella and spend the day bar...efoot, so how do you go about choosing the perfect wedding shoes? Here’s how!

• Dress Length- The first thing you should consider when choosing your wedding shoes is the length of your wedding dress. In this sense, it is wise to choose your wedding shoes before the dress so that the dress can be adjusted accordingly.

• Make A Statement - It would take a very bold and brave bride to opt for a colourful or patterned wedding dress. So, if you’re keeping things traditional with a white, ivory or cream gown but still want to make a statement somehow, consider choosing a bright colored pair of wedding shoes.

• Take Caution - It’s all very well wearing skyscraper heels or platforms when you’re out with your girls, but you may need to kick this habit on your wedding day. Remember, you will be wearing these shoes for potentially 12 hours, within which time you will be doing a lot of standing and dancing.

• Fantastic Flats - There’s no rule that says a bride must wear heels on her wedding day. True, heels add height and give you more of a feminine stance, but if you’re having a beach wedding, are blessed with height anyway or you don’t feel comfortable wearing high heels, don’t wear them!

• Pick Two - If you are torn between fashion and comfort and you don’t know whether to choose glamorous high heels or girly flats, then why not have both? For the part of your wedding day where comfort is key, such as on the dance floor at the wedding reception, wear some satin pointed wedding shoes with a teeny heel, and for the wedding moments where your look is more important, such as the wedding photos, wear your high heels. Best of both worlds!

Last, but most certainly not least...

• Wear Them In! - It’s wise to put a bit of ‘homework’ time in before your wedding, to ensure your shoes don’t rub your feet and cause blisters. Wear your wedding shoes around the house for a few weeks before the big day to soften them up and help you find out where they rub. You can then buy some cushioned blister plasters and know exactly where you’ll need to place them on your wedding day to prevent any sore spots.
